Caring for your Covertogs
Women’s swimsuits aren’t like other clothing. Between the damaging rays of the sun, salt water, sunscreen, chlorine and other chemicals, your bathing suit can really take a beating. Although we use the best quality Italian Lycra that is knitted and treated to protect the elastine fibres from breaking, your Covertogs garments still need gentle care.
Rinse your Covertogs immediately after use
The most important thing you can do when cleaning your Covertogs is to rinse them off immediately after wearing/swimming. This will minimise the amount of time the fabric is exposed to harsh agents like sunscreen, perspiration, salt, and chlorine. The quicker you wash your Covertogs the less likely your Covertogs will smell of chlorine and the longer they will last.
Wash Your Covertogs in Cold Water by Hand or Machine using a Gentle Cycle
Hand or Machine Wash your Covertogs after every use. Use cold water only
Only use a mild detergent otherwise your Covertogs will fade. And never use bleach! If possible use a lingerie bag when machine washing your Covertogs.
Despite Every Instinct To Do So Don’t Wring Out Your Swimsuit
The Lycra we use is very fast-drying so no need to wring (-:
It is very tempting to do this but you need to resist. Wringing your Covertogs is the fastest way to wear them out because Lycra loses its shape and elasticity when wrung. If you must remove excess water, lay them flat on a towel and roll the towel up and squeeze gently. Remove them from the towel and lay them flat to dry or line-dry them out of the sun.
