Q. Will covertogs be ok in chlorinated pools?
Q. What does UPF 50+ mean?
Q. Why are covertogs more expensive than some other swimwear?
A. Most of the fabrics we use are imported from Italy via Australia. This makes the fabric more costly than (say) fabric sourced from our closer Asian neighbours. Also, covertogs are manufactured here in NZ, a much higher wage economy than (say) China so our costs of production are higher than in lower wage economies.
We are committed to supporting our local industries as much as possible so we design covertogs in New Zealand, cut the patterns here in New Zealand and have them made up here in New Zealand. Although this adds costs to the finished garments, we believe that the quality of the styling, fabric and manufacturing processes we use all add value to the product and if looked after with care, will last many years of use. We believe in 'slow fashion' so that although the purchase price might be higher than other swimwear options, your covertogs will last better than most other options, and will not be thrown away or worn out after just one season of use.
